Outdoor PVC banners are the tough printed signs you see on railings, walls, shop fronts and school gates, in 2m, 3m or 4m by 1m, or made to your size. Building wraps are large sheets of printed mesh made to measure for scaffolding, empty buildings and site hoardings. Heras fence covers and crowd barrier covers are made to fit temporary fencing and event barriers, so you choose them by what's already on site.
A-frames are folding aluminium pavement signs in A2 or A1. Pick A2 for a narrow pavement or a spot near the door, and A1 to be read from across the street. The posters can be swapped later without buying a new frame. Flags come as tall, narrow feathers or rounder teardrops that move in the wind.
Solid 440gsm PVC is the usual choice for PVC banners. Mesh is full of small holes so the wind passes through, which puts less strain on the fixings. Choose 370gsm mesh PVC for a banner on a fence, scaffolding or a high, exposed wall.
Fence and barrier covers come in three meshes. 370gsm mesh PVC is the strongest, airmesh at 110gsm weighs least and is easiest to carry, and 230gsm polyester mesh falls between them. Heras covers also come in solid 440gsm banner PVC, but with no airflow it's for indoor use only. Building wraps come in 110gsm airmesh for shorter jobs or 230gsm heavy mesh when you need something stronger.
For banners, most jobs need eyelets every 50cm right round the edge. You can also have them just at the corners or just along the long edges, or a plain hem without any. Banners, wraps and covers all come with cable ties. On crowd barriers, check your barrier type first. If you're not sure of the size, the Met Police cover, which drapes over the barrier, is the safest choice.
Flags go on a ground spike for grass, or a fillable or two-pronged tyre base on hard ground. A single-sided flag reads back to front from behind, so go double-sided if it will be seen from both directions.
